Kirsty Panneton comes from New Zealand and with her Canadian husband John, moved to Canada in December 2007. Kirsty and John decided to settle in Calgary, - due to its centrality to BC, the US border and Alberta ...and of course the great skiing available in the area. They bought with them one cat and one horse.
Kirsty has a lifelong history with horses and can remember sitting on a black part draft ranch horse at 18 months of age, she still has the photo to prove it! Her interest lies in both the jumper/eventing and dressage disciplines but her real passion is for the art of dressage.
She has been lucky to have access to top international trainers including Bonny Bonnello, Lee Tubman, Cindy Ishoy and Niki Clarl, and in her eventing life, Mark Todd and Capt Mark Phillips. In 1991-2 she spent time with David Goodin (NZ) working out of his show jumping / eventing stables. During this time she competed successfully with David's horses in eventing, successfully competing at Preliminary level (including long format) with many wins and placings both provincially and at national level.
She has ridden to Grand prix level in New Zealand with some notable successes including winning the FEI world challenge at PSG level in 1997, NZ Advanced champion and NZ Horse of the Year, 3rd in the NZ Volvo World Cup – Intermediare 1 – 1998. In 1998 she rode for NZ in Australia and was the only NZ combination to be placed in all eight classes contested at PSG and Intermediare 1 level. In 1999 Kirsty and her horse Just George were placed 4th in the Olympic Qualifier event at their first attempt. Currently Kirsty is bringing along three promising youngsters as dressage prospects. They willl compete in the young horse FEI classes in 2016.
